Lantiq introduces the latest home networking solutions
23 May 2012Among the products promoted by the company was the VIMAX IVE 1000, which is claimed to be the industry's first VDSL2 (very high-speed digital subscriber line) vectoring system chip. Introduced in the market in early 2012, the VIMAX IVE 1000 supports full system level cross talk cancellation increasing the bandwidth in video service systems. It is expandable to 384 ports making it ideal for triple play broadband services.
Another device was the FALCON-FTTx System on Chip—- a GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) product designed for home gateway unit applications. The product drives and controls the optical module, and is said to reduce BOM costs up to 65%. The GPON makes use of passive splitters in a fiber distribution network enabling one single feeding fiber from the provider's central office to serve multiple homes and small businesses.
A demonstration on the integration of all these functionalities was also conducted on the EASY 388, XWAY ARX300 family home gateway unit. Providing multivendor interoperability, all products are based on open international standard, connecting power efficiently over all wired or wireless silicon solutions. Lantiq's smart network processors are claimed to detect latency sensitive data ensuring glitch-free transmission.
According to Kevin Huang, regional marketing manager for Taiwan, Lantiq is one of the first few companies to incorporate GPoN in their home networking solutions such as the XWAY HN 176. The said solution is a G.hn networking transceiver and marketed as part of the HNX 100 series. It can support transmission on cable, power or WLAN in the home environment providing a complete range of high speed system interface options for feature-rich integrated access devices and set top boxes.
G.hn is a home network technology standard developed under the International Telecommunication Union's Standardization arm (ITU) and promoted by the HomeGrid Forum.
