Tekelec—developer of high-performance network applications for next-generation fixed, mobile and packet networks—has extended its relationship with NEC do Brasil in Latin America to incorporate next-generation network switching solutions, including softswitch and media gateway products.
Frank Plastina, president and CEO, Tekelec, said, ¡°As part of our strategy to add significant new channels to expand our tier one global carrier business, we have signed technology transfer license and OEM agreements with NEC do Brasil. NEC do Brasil will utilize our industry-leading next-generation softswitch and media gateway core technology to create the best TDM-to-IP switching migration solution to address its extensive customer base in the Latin American region. This agreement complements the technology transfer agreement we signed in October 2006.¡±
Under the agreement, NEC do Brasil is incorporating its own customizations to the Tekelec Media Gateway Controller and Network Management System Software into NEC¡¯s core network solutions in Latin America. Tekelec also is providing professional services and training to NEC do Brasil. In addition, engineers from the companies are working together to modify existing and developing new solutions for the Latin American market.
Plastina, stated, ¡°We established our relationship with NEC Neva in Russia at the beginning of 2006, and we see tremendous opportunity for an expansion into Latin America. We expect the affiliation with NEC do Brasil in Latin America to produce multimillion dollar revenues for Tekelec during the next four years.¡±
