(Product News, 05 Mar 2007 )

ARM has announced the availability of two ARM Mali graphics processor units (GPUs) for mobile multimedia applications. The ARM Mali200 processor delivers visually stunning 3D graphics for mobile games on smartphones and other high-end portable devices. The ARM Mali55 processor brings rich 3D graphics capabilities to feature phones for the first time. Both graphics processors feature a rendering architecture that scales from the smallest of displays right up to HDTV resolution, while minimizing memory bandwidth and conserving battery life.

The Mali200 delivers 2D and 3D graphics, with 4x and 16x full scene anti-aliasing, for smartphones and portable devices. It supports HDR rendering as well as OpenGL ES 2.0 for fully programmable shaders. Measuring less than 1.4 mm©÷ on 90 nm process, the Mali55 brings 3D graphics capabilities to low-cost feature phones. It offers full scene anti-aliasing up to 16x and can make QVGA screen resemble VGA system for UI and gaming. Processor complies with OpenGL ES v1.1 and OpenVG.
