Mentor Graphics Corporation announced that it is extending its working agreement with Texas Instruments (TI) to provide developers an integrated operating system solution for the mass market. Integrated within TI's foundation software, Mentor's Nucleus Operating System (OS) Mobile will provide a platform for developers working with TI's OMAP-Vox platform and 2.5G chipsets, allowing them to integrate basic features and multimedia applications into handsets.
Neil Henderson, general manager for the embedded systems division of Mentor Graphics, said, "Mentor's Nucleus OS is the mostly used operating system in the mobile phone market. By combining TI's industry- solutions with the expansive features of the Nucleus OS Mobile, mobile phone manufacturers can provide consumers with the features they desire, enabling customers to bring more targeted products to market."
Sylvie Deschamps, strategic sourcing general manager, TI, stated, "Texas Instruments is pleased to work with Mentor Graphics to further our efforts to enable development of advanced mobile multimedia feature phones for the mass market. The flexibility of Mentor's Nucleus OS Mobile gives handset manufacturers the ability to address the growing consumer demand for affordable multimedia devices with a range of handsets."
