Intersil brings 2.5A voltage buck regulator

(Product News, 15 Mar 2007 )

Intersil Corporation, provides power management solution, introduced a 2.5A, wide input voltage synchronous buck regulator that reduces noise and EMI filter requirements through programmable switching frequency and external synchronization. The integrated switching MOSFETs and a thermally enhanced compact 4mm x 4mm QFN package make the ISL8502 an ideal fit for 5V/12Vin space-critical applications.

Unlike competitive devices, the ISL8502 features external synchronization capability with master/ slave configuration to enable the user to synchronize up to four ICs out of phase and reduces EMI (electromagnetic interference) in the design while also providing multiple outputs from the same input rail. The device's adjustable switching frequency range of 500kHz to 1.2MHz ensures high efficiency and a smaller number of external BOM components. The external compensation provides additional flexibility and enables various choices of passive devices.
