(Product News, 26 Mar 2007 )
Oki Electric Industry Co. Ltd announced the launch of KGL5115KD, a 10Gbps EML driver IC for optical communication. The company claims that the new IC has one of the world's smallest footprints and achieves the lowest power consumption at just 0.45W (at 2.3Vpp amplitude). Samples of these products are available immediately.
Masayuki Tsuboi, president of optical components company at Oki Electric Industry, said, "We are pleased to bring to market the KGL5115KD with significantly reduced power consumption compared to our former models that had already attained the world's lowest power consumption level. Our customers can now achieve 10Gbps pluggable modules with a high quality wave pattern, smaller size and lower power consumption, which will be ideal for XFP and SFP+ applications. With this product we aim to achieve over 50% market share in the 10Gbps optical modulator driver IC market."
