Agilent Technologies announces demonstration of WiMAX measurement solutions

(Top News, 18 Jun 2007 )

Agilent Technologies has announced that its mobile WiMAX (IEEE 802.16e-2005) measurement solutions were used by participants at the WiMAX Forum's recent third, public Mobile WiMAX PlugFest, an interoperability showcase hosted by AT4 Wireless and ETSI in Sophia Antipolis, France.

Agilent's mobile WiMAX solutions include the Agilent MXG, Signal Studio, MXA, 89601A Vector Signal Analyzer (VSA) software, and Mobile WiMAX Test Set. Featuring exceptional performance and functionality, these solutions provided PlugFest participants with PHY, MAC and functional test capabilities not currently available with competing solutions.

Bringing a new level of innovative test features and performance to the developer, Agilent's mobile WiMAX measurement solutions provide engineers with the necessary tools to perform accurate, cost-effective and fast signal analysis, signal generation, protocol testing, and end-to-end functional test in the lab.

Agilent's broad range of mobile WiMAX measurement solutions will next be showcased June 18-22 at the WiMAX Forum's plenary session in Madrid, Spain. On display will be the Agilent MXG, MXA, 89601A VSA software, and E6651A Mobile WiMAX Test Set, plus the latest enhancements to Agilent's Mobile WiMAX Signal Studio (N7615B) tools for mobile WiMAX. New features to be added to Signal Studio to support signal generation for the Wave 2 system profiles include: Matrix A and Matrix B signals for downlink, MIMO fading embedded in a waveform, uplink collaborative MIMO, creation of HARQ bursts and uplink sounding zones.

Agilent engineers will be on hand in Madrid to demonstrate how Agilent test tools can be used to verify performance of mobile WiMAX devices. In contrast to other solutions often used just to verify that a signal is present when a problem is found, Agilent's solutions can also be used for troubleshooting.

In an additional show of support for the development of WiMAX and mobile WiMAX standards, Agilent is sponsoring the WiMAX Forum Certification Working Group - Technical Working Group (CWG-TWG) meeting, which will take place July 11-14 in San Francisco.

"The exceptional levels of performance demonstrated by our WiMAX measurement solutions exemplifies our commitment to develop solutions that foster a successful WiMAX marketplace," said Agilent's Guy Sene, vice president of marketing, Wireless Business Unit, and vice president and general manager, Signal Analysis Division. "That commitment is displayed yet again through our sponsorship of and active participation in technical working-group meetings for the WiMAX Forum."
