Tektronix teams with HDMI Licensing LLC and Silicon Image to hold HDMI Design and Validation Forum 2007

(Business News, 13 Jul 2007 )

Tektronix, Inc., a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, announced that HDMI Licensing, LLC and Silicon Image, Inc. will participate in the Tektronix HDMI Design and Validation Forum 2007 to present their insights into the overall HDMI market and the HDMI 1.3 implementation. Tektronix will demonstrate its HDMI 1.3b Compliance Testing Solution at the Forum, which will take place from July 11 to July 20 in key cities around the Asia Pacific region, including Shanghai, Shenzhen, Taipei, Seoul and Singapore.

The emerging HDMI market has grown rapidly in the past year. According to a recent In-Stat research report, the world’s shipment of HDMI products will grow significantly from 59 million units in 2006 to 278 million units by 2009. As the most active region across the globe for HDMI adoption, Asia Pacific now represents more than 60 percent of the world’s 592 licensees for HDMI technology. At HDMI Design and Validation Forum 2007, Tektronix will bring together technology professionals from HDMI Licensing and Silicon Image to provide the attendees an overview of future HDMI technology, HDMI 1.3 compliance testing solutions as well as on-site hands-on technical training and collaboration with Tektronix experts.

“HDMI version 1.3 provides improvements to the specification resulting in better experiences for customers,” said Leslie Chard, president of HDMI Licensing. “Version 1.3 increases requirements for HDMI compliance testing. Tektronix continues to demonstrate its commitment to the HDMI community with leading serial data test solutions for the HDMI CTS. Tektronix is an excellent partner to help enable our customer to deliver breakthrough consumer experience for the high-definition (HD) video and audio technology with its HDMI 1.3 test solution.”

“Tektronix has been working with HDMI Licensing and its founders on test procedures and instrumentation since the beginning of the specification,” said James Alderton, Marketing Director of Tektronix Asia Pacific Region. “The Tektronix HDMI Test and Validation Forum 2007 will help educate engineers across the Asia Pacific region on the HDMI standard and empower them to speed validation testing for new HDMI designs”

To address the increased HDMI test and measurement challenges, Tektronix announced its second generation test solution for integrated sink, source and cable tests using high-performance hardware and software for HDMI v1.3 in September 2006, providing designers an automated standard compliance test system to speed validation of HDMI designs. In January 2007, Tektronix instruments to certify HDMI standard compliance were included in the Compliance Test Specification (CTS) issued by HDMI Licensing, LLC.

The Forum will take place on July 11 in Shanghai, July 13 in Shenzhen, July 17 in Taipei, July 18 in Seoul and July 20 in Singapore. To learn more about and register Tektronix HDMI Test and Validation Forum 2007, please visit http://www.tek.com/Measurement/programs/HDMISeminar/.
