Bangalore based Ittiam Systems has been singularly focusing on digital signal processing systems in media and communications. According to the company, it was recognized as the world's most preferred DSP supplier in 2004 based on the Survey of DSP Professionals conducted by Forward Concepts, US.
In addition, Bank of America Equity Partners-Asia (BAEP-Asia), the private equity investment arm of Bank of America, has invested $6.5 million in Ittiam. Ittiam had earlier raised a Series A round of funding worth $5 million from Global Technology Ventures (GTV) in 2001.
Ittiam currently has a portfolio in the communications segment (WLAN) and consumer segment (media portfolio). In 2005, the company intends to venture into two lines from a host of segments such as mobile/digital TV -- receiver and media subsystem, voice-over-WLAN (VoWLAN) and mobile media subsystem.
