6WIND has announced that the company has appointed former UTStarcom senior executive, Jesse Zhang, to be its Vice President of Asia and Managing Director of China, to be based in Beijing. The announcement follows the company's success with Japan's KDDI mobile project and a significant partnership agreement signed with Chinese Industrial giant, Tsinghua Tongfang.
"Jesse joins 6WIND just as the company is expanding its world class customer base in Asia, with Samsung in South Korea, KDDI in Japan and Tsinghua Tongfang in China. Having a talented executive and entrepreneur like Jesse in our executive board, is a critical asset at this stage for the acceleration of our strategic market penetration into Asia's largest and fastest growing markets. I am confident his 15 years' of outstanding business acumen and solid technical background with major high-tech companies will contribute very quickly to strengthening local business partnerships and customer support," said Alain Daste, 6WIND's CEO.
At UTStarcom, Jesse was most recently Deputy General Manager, Central R&D, where he managed a global organization of over 200 people in China and the USA. Under his leadership, the group conducted innovative developments on new technologies and products including triple-play, WiMAX and integrated home gateways, providing total solutions to top tier accounts such as China Telecom, China Mobile and Korea Telecom. He was also co-founder and executive officer of TelePhotogenics, a mobile networked imaging company, and Edgeflow, specializing in optical networking.
