Intrinsyc Awarded Freescale Partner Software Solution 2006

(Interviews, 14 Aug 2006 )

Intrinsyc Software International, Inc. has announced that Freescale Semiconductor's Wireless Developer Network has named Intrinsyc's Soleus as Freescale Partner Software Solution of the Year for its support of the growing market for wireless products based on Freescale's high performance i.MX31 multimedia applications processors.

As Freescale's Wireless Developer Network Partner Software Solution of the year, Intrinsyc has integrated its Soleus mobile phone software solution with the Freescale i.MX31 multimedia applications processor in a turnkey, feature-rich platform to facilitate rapid mobile phone design. Soleus is based on Microsoft Windows CE and offers mobile phone manufacturers and network operators a low-risk, cost-effective and faster way to build handsets. Intrinsyc worked closely with Freescale to integrate Soleus with the i.MX31, creating a complete development system for building handsets that can also be rapidly scaled to future single-core phone designs based on Freescale's platforms. Based on an advanced ARM11™ core and developed around Freescale's Smart Speed™ architecture, the i.MX31 has many features enabling product line differentiation without requiring significant engineering re-work. When combined with Soleus, this enables original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and original device manufacturers (ODMs) to quickly deploy a variety of Windows CE-based mobile multimedia devices.

"Freescale named Intrinsyc's Soleus as Partner Software Solution of the year as we believe it is key to the success of mobile devices driven by the Freescale i.MX31 multimedia applications processor," said Berardino Baratta, general manager, Multimedia Applications Division, Freescale. "Integrating the i.MX31 with Soleus has created a great turnkey solution for mobile phone makers wanting to capitalize on the benefits of the Soleus Windows CE core and have the processing power to support rich mobile user applications and services."

"Intrinsyc is delighted to have been awarded Freescale Software Solution of the Year and to be working with one of the most cutting-edge silicon vendors in the industry," said Randy Kath, CTO and VP of Mobile Software Products, Intrinsyc. "This award reflects our commitment to developing Windows CE-based mobile phones and our intent to build great phones with great underlying technology. Through working with Freescale we have expanded our Soleus solution and strengthened our relationships with device manufacturers and network operators worldwide, as more phones are powered by Freescale's wireless and mobile technology. We look forward to continuing to work with Freescale together with future Soleus licensees to build advanced mobile phones powered by the i.MX31."
