Universal Telecom Services (UTS) met with President Nguyen Minh Triet to detail its growth plans in the country's rapidly expanding telecommunications sector, as well as to request the President's blessing for the conversion of its BCC with Vishipel and Binh Minh Trading into a Joint Venture.
"Vietnam is a promising country, given its recent ascension into the World Trade Organization and its high expected GDP growth and increasing foreign direct investments," said Zohar Loshitzer, President and CEO of UTS. "We believe that investments in technology and telecommunications are essential to further economic development. Along with our ability to convert our business into a Joint Venture, this will enable UTS and its partners to expand into new services that are beneficial to Vietnam."
UTS announced its plans to expand the BCC's current international long distance VOIP service offering into other value-added telecommunications services. UTS and its partners will launch a state-of-the-art data center facility in Ho Chi Minh City by the third quarter of 2007. The data center will be aimed at the growing number of multinational companies entering the country, as well as local enterprises demanding reliable and secure services for their mission critical information technology needs. Additional world class data centers will be launched in 2007 and 2008 in Ho Chi Minh City and other major urban centers, including Hanoi. The data centers will feature a physical infrastructure that replicates international industry-leading standards for power availability, high-performance security and environmental control. UTS will invest in power capabilities that will support blade technologies and other high power density uses.
President Nguyen Minh Triet praised UTS' expanding and long-term commitment to Vietnam and offered his assistance to ensure UTS and its partners are successful in its expansion plans.
"We are excited about the prospects of converting our existing business into a Joint Venture and helping Vietnam bridge the digital and communications divide," concluded Zohar Loshitzer. "We can serve as one of President Nguyen Minh Triet's testimonials of the advancement and development of Vietnam's economy."
