S Janakiraman Takes Over as ISA Chairman

India Semiconductor Association (ISA), the trade body for the Indian semiconductor driven industry, today announced the appointment of Mr. S Janakiraman, President & CEO, R&D Services Mindtree Consulting Ltd, as the Chairman of ISA for the year 2007-2008. Jaswinder Ahuja, Managing Director, Cadence Design Systems, has been appointed Vice Chairman, ISA for the current year.

Announcing the Chairman and Vice Chairman for 2007-2008, Poornima Shenoy, President, ISA, said: "We are delighted to have Mr. Janakiraman taking on the Chairmanship of ISA. He has played an important role, both as a member and as ISA's Vice Chairman last year. Mr. Janakiraman is also greatly respected in the industry for his leadership, technical knowledge and strategic vision. With his guidance, we are certain that a young body like ISA will attain even greater success. We are also extremely pleased to have Mr. Ahuja take the position of Vice Chairman, ISA for 2007-2008."

"Rajendra Kumar Khare as our outgoing Chairman has contributed to ISA and the industry by leading our efforts on getting the Government of India to release the Semiconductor Policy. We will look to his continued support on several of our ongoing Initiatives and presence on the Executive Council," added Shenoy.

"With the semiconductor policy of Government of India announced, this will be the crucial year for ISA to leverage and enable great positive momentum for the semiconductor industry,” said Janakiraman.

"The Indian semiconductor ecosystem is poised for tremendous growth in the next few years. I look forward to working closely with industry leaders to help ISA leverage this opportunity," noted Ahuja.

The other elected members to the Executive Council are: Vasudevan Moorthy, Wipro Technologies; Sanjeev Keskar, Freescale Semiconductor; Rajiv Kapur, LSI; B V Naidu, SemIndia; Dr Pradip K Dutta, Synopsis; Dr Sunil Sherelekar, TCS; and V Veerappan, Tessolve Services.
