Major Japanese MLCC Manufacturer Places Order for Several Dozen Additional ESI 3340 Test Sytems

(Interviews, 27 Apr 2007 )

Electro Scientific Industries Inc., a leading provider of world-class photonics and laser systems for microengineering applications, has received an order for several dozen Model 3340 test systems from a major Japanese multi-layer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) manufacturer. ESI expects to deliver these systems during its fourth fiscal quarter, ending May 31, 2007, and its first fiscal 2008 quarter. These systems will be used to test MLCC chips as small as 01005 (.01 inches long by .005 inches wide) and further solidify ESI's stance as a leading provider of test and termination equipment for high-volume manufacturing needs.

Virtually all electronic products employ passive components in large quantities. To remain competitive, MLCC manufacturers must employ cost-effective solutions to augment their level of productivity and output. ESI's component solutions address this challenge, delivering high-speed, production processing at a low cost of ownership.

ESI's Model 3340 is the most successful MLCC test system on the market, with nearly 1000 units sold of its type. It can handle a broad range of MLCC chip sizes from 01005 to 1812 with a throughput of up to 240,000 chips per hour. The Model 3340 offers superior comparative advantage to its customers by providing full automation, industry-leading yields and low costs.
