Design Technology Council Announces Election of Chairman for 2007-2008 Term

(Interviews, 18 Jun 2007 )

The Design Technology Council (DTC), a group of semiconductor and system design companies, has announced that Rahul Goyal, director of EDA Business for Intel Corp., has been elected as its chairman. He and his team are responsible for Intel's strategic engagements with the EDA industry and academia. Among other things, his team drives Intel's strategic equity investments in design & CAD, university research in design sciences, EDA strategy and supplier engagements. Goyal has been with Intel for over 17 years. Goyal's term as chairman runs from June 2007—June 2008. As chairman of the DTC, Goyal is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of the council.

DTC membership now stands at 10 leading semiconductor and systems companies, representing a strong user voice to the EDA industry. In the last several years, the DTC has initiated several industry initiatives that enable design tool interoperability and improvements to product development efficiency. The DTC is comprised of representatives from AMD, Ericsson, Freescale Semiconductor, Hewlett-Packard, IBM Corp., Intel, Infineon, LSI, NXP Semiconductors, and Sun Microsystems.

"The need to collaborate is becoming increasingly important with growing challenges in product and process technology development," says Goyal. "The DTC is in a unique position to take a leadership role in addressing issues facing our industry. I would like to thank my industry peers for this recognition and look forward to working with them to drive efforts leading to improvements in development productivity and design interoperability."
