New user interface EasyPro3D

(Product News, 10 Aug 2007 )

Viscom has introduced the first step of its new EasyPro3D programming software. The first step with its comprehensive improvements and streamlined procedures offer users an entirely new way of programming. Greatly simplified inspection-routine parameterizing, a fully IPC-compliant Viscom LIB2007 inspection library and a newly designed repair station enhance user-friendliness.

A much-shortened parameter list, which now includes only the most essential setting possibilities, allows high inspection quality and low false alarm rates to be achieved more quickly. The newly standardized Viscom LIB2007 inspection library simplifies programming even further. A completely reworked standard delivers compact, preset, IPC-compliant parameter sets, reducing the number of parameters that need to be adjusted by approximately 75 %. The LIB2007 base version itself contains nearly 1,600 component types; it observes IPC standards for components and solder joints and reflects 20 years of Viscom applications experience.

The existing Automatic Parameter Optimization (APO) has also been augmented, allowing it to be used with nearly all of the LIB2007 inspection algorithms. Yet this does not, however, limit the library’s flexibility; the operator can still access all the parameter settings in Expert Mode.

Another innovation is the repair station’s ”ValidCompare” mode. For every defect image recognized by the AOI system, another defect-free image is offered for comparison. This good/bad image comparison greatly facilitates defect evaluation, especially for a semi-skilled operator. The comparison image can be easily recorded at the AOI station from a good PCB.

The central feature of Viscom EasyPro3D is its integrated verification named “TrustedChange”, which streamlines the process of reducing false calls while ensuring zero escapes. This feature was made possible by providing an option to verify each parameter change against all defects previously detected by the AOI system and verified at the repair station. With ”TrustedChange”, the quality of the inspection program can be confirmed at any time, whether for production or for documentation during customer audits. A zero-defect strategy, as frequently required by the automobile industry, is also readily supported.

The software is available from the 20th of August onwards. EasyPro3D Step 2, the next step in Viscom’s initiative to simplify AOI programming, will be introduced at Productronica in November 2007. This further step will encompass visual 3-D programming – in which programmers virtually “see” a component right before their eyes – as well as component-oriented programming with significantly more intuitive interaction.
