SkyCross Opens Additional Design Centers in China and South Korea

(Business News, 26 Jul 2007 )

SkyCross, a provider of antenna-centric, radio-frequency (RF) solutions, has announced the opening of additional design centers in Shanghai, China, and Gumi, South Korea, to meet increasing demand from wireless device manufacturers serving the rapidly growing Asian market. These new facilities complement existing SkyCross design centers and recently opened SkyCross manufacturing plants in Suwon, South Korea, and Shenzhen, China.

The new SkyCross design centers enhance the company's ability to work in-region with customers to provide early feedback on industrial designs, a crucial success factor for device makers. SkyCross not only designs and manufacturers high-performance antennas, but also provides significant expertise in maximizing performance of the entire RF system, setting device designers free to create a full range of consumer electronics with wireless connectivity. This RF systems approach reduces time to market and lowers cost by simplifying or eliminating adjacent RF components, resolving complex, interrelated RF issues, and avoiding problems encountered late in the development cycle.

According to the Gartner Group, strong results in Asia-Pacific and Japan drove worldwide mobile phone sales to 14 percent growth in the first quarter of 2007 compared to the same period last year. The new SkyCross design centers offer unique, one-source RF solutions for device manufacturers, helping them to capitalize on this brisk growth in device demand.

Each SkyCross design center offers the area¡¯s top engineering talent and state-of-the-art, on-site test equipment. 3D measurement chambers with far-field scanner capabilities and advanced analysis software are used to thoroughly review antenna performance both in free space and upon integration. This capability allows SkyCross to quickly and properly optimize wireless device RF systems.

SkyCross is ISO 9001 certified and maintains total quality control of its solutions across the entire supply chain¡ªfrom design engineering to proper integration and delivery of finished product.

"These new design centers are a great barometer of our growth," said Dr. Chris Morton, CEO of SkyCross. "This is another milestone in our plan to open offices in other strategic locations."

"SkyCross is pleased to see the Asian markets continuing to grow and expand into new segments including mobile video, wireless data, and home entertainment," said Ping Chen, Managing Director of SkyCross China. "China is home to rapidly growing wireless companies that often provide devices in combination with infrastructure solutions. We are pleased to further support this growth with our new facilities."

"The additional design center in Korea underscores our commitment to existing and new customers," said Dr. Young-Min Jo, Managing Director of SkyCross Korea and VP of Technology Development. "SkyCross supports the region's thirst for cutting-edge devices and networks with its next-generation technology."
