Solomon Systech launches 3.5" display system solution
(Product News, 12 Sep 2007 )
Solomon Systech Limited, a world-leading display IC and display system solutions provider, has announced a new total system solution specifically for 3" to 3.5" medium display size applications such as premium photo viewer, MP4, learning machine, and Personal Navigation Device (PND). This system solution can efficiently shorten the end-product design cycle time by 50% and speed up time-to-market.
The display system solution comprises an SSD1926QL9 image processor in a 128-pin LQFP package, a 3.5" CPT QVGA TFT LCD module driven by a SSD2116Z TFT driver, an SD slot, and an MCU interface pin header. The system's design aims to provide a user-friendly platform where the onboard SD slot enables convenient access to the SSD1926QL9. Still pictures or video clips from the SD card can be loaded directly into the JPEG decoder of the image processor and displayed on the 3.5" TFT panel. As the SSD1926QL9 supports most generic SRAM, ISA, 8 or 16 bits 8080 indirect addressing MCU interface, connection to any user preferred MCU board is made easy with the onboard MCU interface pin header. Besides, the display module supported by SSD2116Z, a new single chip 320RGBx240 TFT driver from Solomon Systech, will be a prefect solution for colorful landscape QVGA displays in end products.
"A colorful, informative display in handheld electronic devices is definitely a global market trend. Display sizes ranging from 3" to 3.5" have become the mainstream nowadays," said Mr. Percy Lam, President of Solomon Systech. "SSD1926QL9 is an ideal image processor to penetrate this market. It supports 18/24 bit and 8-bit serial interfaces that are the most common display interfaces in 3" to 3.5" TFT LCD panels. This total system solution will save end-product manufacturers both time and money in tooling up their own LCD panels for development. This readily available system is inevitability a must to win the market," Mr. Lam concluded.
