HTC celebrates 10 years of mobile innovation with anniversary bash

(Business News, 25 Sep 2007 )

HTC Corp., the world's leading provider of Microsoft Windows Mobile smart devices, has celebrated its 10th anniversary with the grand opening of its new global headquarters and R&D center. Many of HTC’s world-class partners and customers from around the world attended the festivities, which were hosted by Cher Wang, Chairperson of HTC and Peter Chou, CEO of HTC.

“When the Chinese say ‘10’, it means perfection. After 10 years of innovation, HTC has earned the respect of its customers and partners alike. We will continue to expand the scope of collaboration with our partners to bring more innovative products to the market,” said Peter Chou, chief executive officer of HTC.

Chu Li-lun, the governor of Taoyuan County in Taiwan, made a special appearance at HTC’s 10th Anniversary Celebrations. “Since moving to Taoyuan County 10 years ago, HTC has flourished amid fierce global competition by creating a dynamic business environment that encourages innovation and entrepreneurship. I am very proud that Taoyuan County’s strategic location and highly-skilled, dedicated, and hardworking workforce have contributed significantly to HTC’s worldwide capabilities and innovative technology competitive advantage,” said Chu.

“On behalf of Microsoft, I congratulate HTC on a very successful 10 years. Since the early beginnings of Windows Mobile, HTC has been a pivotal strategic partner with whom we have enjoyed incredible success,” said Pieter Knook, senior vice president, Mobile Communications Business of Microsoft Corp. “Together, we look forward to the next decade of innovation where we’ll continue to create devices that people cannot live without.”

“Qualcomm is proud of its close relationship with HTC as they have grown from a successful ODM into an industry force recognized as a leader in smart mobile devices,” said Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, chief executive officer of Qualcomm. “The success that our two companies have achieved during our long history of working together will serve as a springboard as we look toward introducing a whole new generation of devices.”

“T-Mobile strategically aligns itself with technology-leading partners to provide exceptional value and experience to its customers. I would like to express gratitude to Mr. Chou and the HTC team for their significant innovation and R&D contributions, as well as their enthusiasm to support our joint success story,” said Christopher Schlaeffer, Group Product and Innovation Officer of Deutsche Telekom.

“Since the successful launching of the CHT PDA Phone last July, HTC and Chunghwa Telecom have teamed up to provide consumers in Taiwan with the latest and most innovative smart devices on the market. On behalf of Taiwan's largest telecommunications operator, I would like to congratulate HTC on the occasion of its 10th anniversary and look forward to many more years of close collaboration,” said Shyue-Ching Lu, president of Chunghwa Telecom.

HTC’s new global headquarters and R&D center is located in Taoyuan, Taiwan. The new building contains a number of state-of-the-art R&D laboratories that are staffed by high-end design and R&D engineers dedicated to strengthening HTC’s research and innovative capabilities.
