ILOG has announced the ILOG China Academic Alliance Program for mainland China. This Program aims at developing local talents and at strengthening the ecosystem for operations research and optimization, to support the escalating demands from the industry.
Under the China Academic Alliance Program, ILOG will offer its best of breed software for academic teaching; financial incentives for published academic papers referencing the ILOG software; and opportunities for faculty and tertiary students to work and to learn from industrial projects sourced from around the world.
Already, more than 1,000 universities use ILOG's CPLEX for their operations research, including leading institutions in China such as Fudan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Jilin University, Nankai University, NorthEast University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tongji University, SouthEast University, Tsinghua University and Xian Jiaotong University.
"We are very excited about the launch of the ILOG China Academic Alliance Program, which will reach out to all tertiary institutions in China. This is marking our commitment to research and academic development in this very important and progressive market, which is ILOG's contribution to the initiatives from the Chinese government to promote innovation", says Mr. Bounthara Ing, executive vice president and deputy CEO of ILOG. "In particular, China hosts many critical elements of the world's supply chains, and optimization is an essential practice to help Chinese corporations make better decisions faster to best serve those supply chains."
The China Academic Alliance Program serves the following objectives.
Academic Teaching
Participating tertiary institutions under the China Academic Alliance
Program will gain access to the best of breed ILOG CPLEX and ILOG
OPL-CPLEX Analyst Studio for teaching operations research (OR), linear programming (LP), and mixed integer programming (MIP), and ILOG will provide the materials and resources necessary for the faculty to develop and integrate new courses into their curriculum.
Financial Incentives for Academic Papers
ILOG recognizes the importance of publishing quality and useful academic papers, especially in the areas related to ILOG's technology.
Under the China Academic Alliance Program, ILOG will award a token amount to the first 100 qualified academic papers published by an educational institution or faculty in recognized journals that specifically reference ILOG CPLEX/OPL.

ILOG will offer training and attachment opportunities to students attending the ILOG related courses during their final year at the academic partner, subject to the availability of such positions within
ILOG.
Annual CPLEX/OPL Symposium
ILOG will organize in 2008 the first session of the Annual CPLEX/OPL

Best Student Project Prize
ILOG will award the Best Student Project Prize for the academic year
2008. This will be in the form of a financial award. Students attending
