Leading Internet destination selects Arbor Networks' Peakflow SP Platform

(Business News, 27 Sep 2007 )

Arbor Networks, a leading provider of network security and operational performance for global business networks, has announced that Yahoo! Inc., a leading global Internet company, has selected the Arbor Peakflow SP platform.

Peakflow SP, which is used by more than 70% of the world's service provider networks, is designed to protect networks from security threats such as DDoS attacks, botnets and worms, as well as network issues such as traffic and routing instability. By providing real-time, network-wide anomaly detection and reporting of routing and traffic patterns across the entire network, Peakflow SP helps customers understand and visualize threats to their network, whether they stem from an attack, mis-configuration or the longer-term impact of changes in network utilization. Peakflow SP customers can quickly determine the root cause of changes, which may be the result of new applications, customers and/or violations in usage policy and can also evaluate peering relationships and optimize transit speed.

Global Visibility into Internet Threats

In addition to the benefits of Peakflow SP, customers can leverage the global relationships Arbor has with the service provider community through the Active Level Threat Analysis System (ATLAS) and the Fingerprint Sharing Alliance. ATLAS is the world's first globally scoped threat analysis service. ATLAS utilizes a globally distributed darknet sensor network to deliver intelligence on host/port scanning activity, zero-day exploits and worm propagation, security events and vulnerability disclosures, and dynamic botnet and phishing infrastructures. This capability enables companies to eliminate the manual collection and analysis of specific threats in favor of automated, customer-specific information generated by ATLAS. Arbor's Fingerprint Sharing Alliance is the first global initiative aimed at helping service providers automatically share Internet attack data. This global alliance marked a significant step forward in the fight against Internet attacks and major infrastructure threats that cross both physical and cyber infrastructures.

"The global deployment of Arbor products within the service provider community and the relationships they have leveraged to develop innovative and unique solutions like ATLAS and ATF, were key factors in their favor," said Adam Bechtel, chief architect with Yahoo!. "Peakflow SP not only provides network-wide visibility and protection against attacks, it provides the analysis and reporting we need to communicate with executive management about the threats facing our network."

"The combination of networking and security functionality in a single platform, together with the global visibility and actionable intelligence we leverage from our deep service provider relationships, is an attractive combination for any company with a global footprint such as Yahoo!," said Jack Boyle, chief executive officer of Arbor Networks.
