IAR Systems announces development kit for STM32

(Product News, 16 Oct 2007 )

IAR Systems has announced the IAR KickStart Kit for STM32, a development kit that provides a complete evaluation environment for the new STM32 family of 32-bit microcontrollers from STMicroelectronics, which is powered by ARM Cortex-M3. The launch of this kit has been made possible by the close cooperation that exists between STMicroelectronics and IAR Systems.

The kit comprises: an IAR Systems STM32-SK development board; a 32kB code-limited edition of IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM; an IAR PowerPac for ARM evaluation edition; a 20-state demo edition of visualSTATE; and a J-Link-ARM hardware debug probe. The development board features a STM32F103 microcontroller with 128kB Flash memory; a JTAG/SWD interface connector; status and power-supply indicator LEDs; an external power connector; two RS232 connectors; a USB connector; UXT and CAN connector. The board is powered via a 400mA supply direct from the J-Link-ARM-KS. Additional features include a two-line LCD character display; 16 user LEDs; a SD/MMC card socket; and microphone and headphone jacks.

“Companies and developers who would like to begin using Cortex-M3 will particularly benefit from using this kit,” commented Mats Ullström, Product Director of IAR Systems. “The IAR KickStart Kit for STM32 provides evaluation editions of a complete set of tools, giving developers everything they need to develop real applications and to gain a rapid start in evaluating this popular new microcontroller.”
