Low power consumption oscillator for portable apps

( 01 Nov 2007 )

Fox Electronics, America’s leading supplier of frequency control products, has introduced a new 3.3V, HCMOS ceramic surface mount oscillator that features a small form factor and low power consumption. The F230 is designed for use in portable and space-constrained devices including laptop computers, PDAs, cell phones, DVD players, MP3 players, video and digital cameras, as well as PCMCIA cards, Bluetooth, small rack-mount and portable test equipment.

The compact F230 measures 2.5 x 2.0 mm, with a low profile of 0.8 mm. Its power consumption is said to be one of the lowest in the industry. At 12MHz, the F230 requires only 7mA of input current during full operation and only 5µA of power during standby operation. The oscillator offers a frequency range of 0.84 to 75MHz; a frequency stability of ± 100PPM ; an operating temperature range of -20° to +70°C; and long-term aging of ±5 PPM per year. Other tolerances, stabilities and operating temperature ranges are also available. The F230 surface mount oscillator is fully RoHS compliant.
