Vishay Intertechnology has announced the release of optocouplers in long-body, low-profile 4-pin and 5-pin surface-mount SOP-6 mini-flat packages with a new extended temperature range of -40°C to +110°C. The TCLT family of optocouplers offers the higher isolation voltages of larger packages, while providing board space savings to designers.
The 18 optocouplers in the TCLT series are optimized for high-temperature performance in feedback loop, microprocessor system interface, and electronic control system applications in switchmode power supplies for medical equipment, power tools, household products, industrial automation equipment, and white goods.
The devices offer the same low 2-mm profile as the industry-standard mini-flat package, but with a longer body for a better creepage and clearance distance of 8 mm minimum. The optocouplers feature a high isolation voltage of 5000 VRMS, which is normally found only in larger DIP packages. Compared to a DIP-6 SMD package, designers save 46% on board space.
The optocouplers feature a construction consisting of a phototransistor optically coupled to a gallium arsenide infrared-emitting diode in a 4- or 5-lead SOP-6L package. The elements are mounted in a way to provide a minimum insulation thickness of 0.75 mm between the input and output, which meets the stringent safety requirements for a reinforced isolation rating.
Current transfer ratios, which range from 22% to 200% (minimum), differentiate the 18 optocouplers. All the devices in the TCLT family feature an extra-low coupling capacitance of 0.3 pF. The devices are lead (Pb)-free and comply with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.
