UPEK Singapore Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of UPEK Inc., a global provider of biometric fingerprint security solutions, has received the International Headquarters Incentive and Development Expansion Incentive from the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) today, December 5, 2007, in a ceremony held at the Sheraton Towers Singapore.
UPEK provides integrated end-to-end biometric fingerprint security solutions, including comprehensive design and integration services, to consumer and commercial products companies worldwide. Its products enable a wide range of applications, such as password replacement for PCs and applications, centralized management for corporate network security, secure mobile transactions, protection of portable data, identity verification for government applications, and physical access control.
UPEK’s IHQ in Singapore will manage the company’s offices outside of the United States. It will also expand its current responsibilities for sales, manufacturing-oversight and support services to UPEK.
Manohar Khiatani, Assistant Managing Director, EDB, presented the IHQ Award to Alan Kramer, CEO of UPEK and Director of UPEK Singapore. According to Kramer, UPEK will be investing S$100 million to strengthen the company’s presence in Singapore, in line with its commitment to build a Center of Excellence in the country, which will focus on hardware R&D and IC design, manufacturing operations and worldwide sales and logistics.
