NetApp storage software growth continues to outpace market

NetApp announced that it continued to gain momentum in the storage software market, growing the fastest among the top five leading storage software providers both sequentially (Q2'07 –Q3'07) and year over year (Q3'06 – Q3'07).

According to IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Storage Software Tracker Q3 2007, NetApp grew nine times faster than the storage software market from Q2'07 to Q3'07 and maintained or gained share in each market segment in which it provides offerings. According to IDC, NetApp also maintained the number two market share position in the storage replication software market, closing the gap on the market leader.

This marks the ninth consecutive quarter that NetApp has outpaced the storage software market. For storage software market revenues, NetApp achieved 10.9 per cent market share in Q3'07 and grew at 31.1 percent while the market grew at 9.8 per cent year over year (Q3'06–Q3'07).
Additionally, NetApp grew at 18 times the rate of the storage software market leader year over year.

Also according to IDC, NetApp grew fastest among the top five storage replication software vendors and currently holds the number two position, narrowing the gap with the current replication market leader. NetApp grew at almost four times the market rate compared to Q3'06. On a sequential basis, NetApp grew more than twice the market rate and more than three times the rate of the market leader in this segment. This also marks the seventh consecutive quarter in which NetApp grew faster than the replication submarket.
