Infineon Technologies tuner IC for digital car television tuner
(Technology News, 29 Jan 2008 )
The OmniTune TUA6045 is an advanced RF tuner IC requiring a minimum supply voltage of only 3.3 V without compromise to its RF performance. Operating at only 3.3 V compared to the traditional 5V corresponds to a greater than 30% less energy consumption compared to leading products in the market, and perfectly fits into Infineon's strategic decision to offer semiconductor and system solutions, addressing three central challenges to modern society: energy efficiency, communications and security.
The OmniTune RF IC is said to be the world's first RF tuner to incorporate a mixer-oscillator function and an IF AGC amplifier with a digitally programmable phase locked loop (PLL) for use in portable TV tuners. Both analog and digital standards for all terrestrial and cable applications are supported.
Panasonic Electronic Devices has selected the OmniTuneTM TUA6045 RF Tuner IC for their digital car television tuner.
"The OmniTune TUA6045 is a compact and highly advanced RF tuner with proven quality and capabilities", said Mr. Masashi Yasuda of Panasonic Electronic Devices Co., Ltd. "The device made it possible for us to develop a high performance RF tuner for mobile TV reception in automotive applications. This solution will enable people to enjoy a better quality of life with TV services while on the move in the car."
