Korean service provider PIVOTEC becomes first Asian implementer of GIPS LSVX
(Business News, 27 Mar 2008 )
PIVOTEC, a major Korean ICT service provider, has become the first implementer in Asia of GIPS VoiceEngine Multimedia with LSVX solution. Global IP Solutions (GIPS), is the leading provider of embedded media processing solutions for the Voice over IP (VoIP) market and its VoiceEngine Multimedia enhanced with GIPS LSVX codec is being deployed in PIVOTEC’s web-based realtime video application - Mi-Meeting ROMARO, targeting the on-line education solution market.
PIVOTEC’s key customers include major telcos and large enterprises that typically take the solution and in turn provide services to third parties. For PIVOTEC and its customer alike quality is the driving force behind their success. Historically, the first generation of IP communications focused mainly on high-quality voice, but video has rapidly become a critical and essential component of leading edge IP products such as PIVOTEC’s Mi-Meeting ROMARO.
GIPS LSVX, part of the GIPS MediaWare media processing suite, is a high quality video codec specifically designed for video communications over IP networks. GIPS LSVX not only exceeds today’s standard video codecs in terms of basic quality, but also provides superior robustness against packet loss and the better visual quality mandated for real-time IP communications. Comparisons of GIPS LSVX codec against the popular standard implementations of H.263 and H.264 show that GIPS LSVX is less resource intensive, minimizing the RAM and CPU required to deliver high quality media solutions.
