Ethernet Direct offers RUG-118 industrial gigabit converter with SFP to revolutionize new application

(Product News, 02 Apr 2008 )

Ethernet Direct Corporation offers RUG-118, a slim Industrial Gigabit Media converter with SFP flexibility to revolutionize a new application in the market.

RUG-118 is a versatile slim Industrial converter from Ethernet Direct which offers hassle free media conversion between 10/100/1000BaseTX and 1000Base SX/LX/LHX/ZX. RUG-118 supports 1000Base-SX and LX fiber connections by supporting our innovative Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) design to let you extend the transmission distance up to a maximum of 120 kilometers over single mode fiber and 550m over multimode fiber, under a speedy 1000 Mbps transmission to ensure high bandwidth and high reliability. The emergence of small form-factor pluggable transceivers (SFP) design enables any interface to be changed easily with minimal network interruption and reducing the need for spare inventory. Instead of requiring complete multimode, single mode or single fiber options, the network can be covered with type of Industrial media converter with a SFP to cover a wide range of applications.

RUG-118 comes with two important features: Link Fault Pass Through and Link Loss Forwarding. These features are essential to solve the problem encountered when one side of the link fails. With link fault pass through technology, the network administrator would notice the link failure within a short period of time since the link status on one port is propagated to another port to notify remote nodes. These features provide a low cost remote warning mechanism.
