Avago introduces 1-watt cool white high-power LED for street lamps, portable, task, and decorative lighting applications

Avago Technologies has announced its first 1-Watt cool white Moonstone power LED emitter for use in a variety of street lamps, portable, task, backlighting, and decorative lighting applications. Avago’s ASMT-MW09 LED features a low profile design and delivers high flux output of up to 95 lumens (lm) at 350mA drive current. Moreover, this new cool white power LED from Avago will enable lighting application designers to achieve greater lumens output without sacrificing lumens per Watt efficiency by using higher drive currents. Avago is a leading supplier of analog interface components for communications, industrial and consumer applications.
Available in one of the industry’s thinnest packages, Avago’s ASMT-MW09 is an energy efficient LED emitter that’s encapsulated in a heat and UV resistant silicone compound for high reliability and long life. This competitively priced Moonstone cool white LED emitter provides designers of solid-state lighting applications with a wide viewing angle radiation pattern, superior heat dissipation. Moreover, this new cool white LED is ideal for use in lighting applications were height is a constraint. Typical applications include architectural façade lighting, track lights, spot lights and street lamps.
Residential lighting, as well as portable and street light applications require LED packages capable of emitting high light output. With an exposed pad design on the back of the package, it has low thermal resistance and is able to efficiently transfer heat from the package to the motherboard to maintain long term reliability.
