Top 4 modem manufacturers adopt Fultec TBUs

(Business News, 22 Apr 2008 )

Fultec has announced that the world's top four modem manufacturers have adopted Fultec TBUs to protect their modem chipsets.

The industry has recognized the immediate value the TBU brings to the design of electronic equipment as well as the overall product lifetime in the field, namely:

· Higher surge withstand capability than conventional protection
· Significantly lower let-through energy to sensitive integrated circuits
· Block surges rather than shunting
· Higher bandwidth, flat insertion loss up to several GHz
· Lower cost

Cable and DSL modem manufacturers require very high levels of surge protection, up to 6000 volts. "Market acceptance continues at a rapid rate as customers demand higher levels of reliability in their communications equipment and our customer list continues to grow," said Paul Wiener, Vice President of Sales at Fultec. "The market needed a device which could block surges, prevent damage to equipment, yet not add to the cost of the modem. Fultec delivered."

TBU products are available in a variety of operating voltages and currents suitable for use in Telcordia GR-1089 and ITU-T K20, K21, and K45 applications.
