Vishay releases four new 600-V PFC high-frequency rectifiers with 19-ns and 20-ns reverse recovery times

(Product News, 07 May 2008 )

Vishay Intertechnology has launched four new 600-V FRED Pt Hyperfast rectifiers that reduce switching losses in high-efficiency PFC and SMPS applications with their extremely fast and soft reverse recovery times, together with low forward voltage drop.

The new assembly layout diode products represent the most efficient and cost-effective silicon-based solutions for high-efficiency applications, and are able to meet all of the most stringent regulations. The four devices released today are optimized for high-efficiency PFC and high-power-efficiency SMPS applications, and as adaptors for desktop PCs, servers, wide screen PDPs and LCDs, hybrid systems, UPS, and solar power systems.

The four rectifiers complete Vishay's offering of products specifically developed for CCM PFC applications, which includes the state-of-the-art "X" and "H" series, and the "L" series specifically developed for DCM PFC applications.
The new 8-A 8STH06FP and 8S2TH06FP, and 15-A 15STH06FP and 15S2TH06FP Hyperfast tandem rectifiers deliver a reverse recovery time of 19ns and 20ns, respectively. This excellent switching performance is combined with a low forward voltage drop rating of 1.7V at 8A and 1.9V at 15A, allowing the devices to work at higher frequencies to increase the overall system efficiency.
The new rectifiers feature very soft recovery characteristics even at extreme high di/dt with minimum ringing. The devices offer an operating junction temperature of 175°C for more robust and more cost-effective design, and extremely low leakage current. Available in 2- and 3-pin TO-220 FULLPAK packages, the rectifiers are lead (Pb)-free and RoHS-compliant.
