“World’s largest” network-based DDoS detection and mitigation service launched via Arbor Networks Peakflow platform

(Technology News, 15 May 2008 )

Arbor Networks, Inc., a leading provider of secure service control solutions for global business networks, announced that Tata Communications, a leading provider of the new world of communications, has globally deployed Arbor’s Peakflow SP platform (“Peakflow SP”) and Threat Management System (TMS) as part of its Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Detection and Mitigation security service offering for its Internet service provider (ISP), wholesale and enterprise customers.

Tata Communications’ DDoS Detection & Mitigation security services provide a fully integrated solution for global, real time application-layer analysis of the IP traffic traversing across the Tata Communications global IP backbone. The services monitor and analyze customer traffic in real time and on a 24x7x365 basis. The service provides proactive notification of actionable events, helping improve Tata Communications’ customer’s visibility into the security and availability of their network. Undesirable traffic is filtered in Tata Communications backbone before customer resources are impacted, leading to optimum utilization of bandwidth. In addition to protection against security threats, Tata Communications utilizes Arbor Peakflow SP for addressing network issues such as traffic and routing instability.

Peakflow SP provides real-time, network-wide anomaly detection and reporting of routing and traffic patterns across an entire network, and enabling its users to interpret and visualize threats on the network. Arbor Networks’ users can quickly determine the root cause of changes in traffic, which may be the result of new applications, or violations in usage policies, and offer the ability to evaluate peering relationships with partners to optimize transit performance.
