The MAX3886 multirate, clock and data recovery (CDR) serializer/deserializer (SerDes) has data rates up to 2.488Gbps. By combining the functions of three ICs (clock and data recovery, serialization, and deserialization) within a single, highly integrated device, the device provides cost and power savings to manufacturers of passive optical network (PON) equipment for the fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) market. Consequently, this device is ideal for the optical network terminals (ONTs) used in FTTH installations such as Verizon FiOS.
