Alchimer appoints industry veteran Dr. Dan Marx as VP Business Development
(Business News, 16 May 2008 )
Alchimer S.A., the thin films for TSV metallization company, has appointed Dan Marx as Vice President, Business Development. Dr. Marx will help develop Alchimer’s product offering and drive the company’s sales and marketing programs.
This latest announcement follows the appointment of Steve Lerner as CEO earlier this year. Alchimer, a spinout from France’s CEA (Commissariat á l’Energie Atomique), has developed materials and process IP for creating very thin conformal copper seed layers, used in the metallization of through-silicon vias (TSVs). Since conventional techniques have reached their limit at TSV aspect ratios of 3:1, Alchimer’s technology, which enables TSVs with aggressive aspect ratios of 10:1 and greater, is well-placed to drive the adoption of advanced 3D IC packaging.
Marx was previously with Burg Consulting, where in his six years as VP Marketing, he worked with small and medium sized technology companies to develop marketing strategies and distributor networks. Before working at Burg Consulting, Marx was Director of New Business Development at semiconductor materials vendor Praxair Electronics. He has almost 30 years’ experience working in management positions for companies in the fields of semiconductor capital equipment, materials and packaging technology. He holds a Ph.D. in Metallurgy from the Pennsylvania State University and is co-author of numerous publications and seven US patents.
