New structure created to gain advantage in development, delivery of battery packs and chargers

(Technology News, 28 May 2008 )

Nexergy has created what’s said to be the battery industry's only dedicated facility focused on portable power design innovation. The new facility, located in Denver, Colo., is part of a new organizational structure established to accelerate and streamline the company's design innovation and production functions.
The company has created two functional units, with one unit dedicated to all aspects of product design and technology improvement and the second unit focused on providing a positive customer experience in the supply of batteries and chargers from initial order to on-time delivery.

The decision to create the new structure came after the January 2008 merger of Nexergy, Inc. and ElectriTek AVT. Glandon said his company's deep engineering base and expanding customer roster provide the resources to support the new structure.

Nexergy's sales, marketing and the expanded new product design and development group will be headquartered in Denver, Colo., led by Nexergy Executive Vice President John Costa. The company is currently in the process of recruiting engineers to staff the New Product Design and Development Center, which will be fully operational in the fourth quarter of 2008.

The production/fulfillment side of Nexergy, Inc.'s business is responsible for managing the manufacturing organization, quality, purchasing and global logistics. To increase efficiency and align manufacturing capacity with needs, Nexergy, Inc. will transfer all of its Colorado manufacturing lines to Columbus or San Diego, Calif., by the end of the year. Directing this side of the business is Chief Operating Officer Joe Dougherty.
