Signametrics Corporation Announces More USB Digital Multimeters

Signametrics Corporation has released the SMU2060 and SMU2064 USB DMMs (Digital Multimeters). At 8 ounces with dimensions of 5’’ X 7’’ X 1.3’’, these instruments provide a 90% reduction in size, weight and power from bench-top DMMs. These Multimeters are powered from the USB cable. They are ideal for use with a laptop, opening up new possibilities for portable applications.

Our plug-and-play software installation is compatible with a wide range of software packages. Signametrics has no vested interest in forcing customers to use any specific software packages, truly empowering the customer.

First ever 7-1/2 Digit DMM with USB interface
While most 7-1/2 digit DMMs are limited to around ±10,000,000 counts, these units sport ±24,000,000 counts. This high dynamic range decreases the number of times you need to change ranges, resulting in shorter test times, but most importantly it extends the 7-1/2 digit resolution by 240% of input values. The top of the line SMU2064 is the fastest, at 20,000 readings per second to an on-board store or 12,000 readings/sec continuous flow. It offers an impressive list of 25 built-in source and measure operations. It can both, measure and source AC and DC voltage and current. It also measures inductors to nano Henries and capacitors to down to a pico Farad. DC voltages and currents can be resolved down to nano Volts and Pico Amperes. Resistance has seven current sources and performs its measurements at a low test voltage. A special Extended Resistance test function has the ability to measure multi Giga Ohms resistors. A built in pulse generator, time and frequency functions, and extensive triggering operations add real-time utilities and includes a Component Handler interface. All these come with a remarkable accuracy and stability.

The SMU2060 features same accuracy and resolution as the SMU2064, at a more affordable price point. It includes the standard range of DMM functions plus capacitance and frequency measurements as well as Diode test.

A Family of Test and Measurement Plug-In Instruments
These USB DMMs are a great choice for burn-in, production test and R&D as well as portable applications. These US designed and built units should be considered for bench top, portable and automated test. All you need is a vacant USB port. No additional power cords or data cables are required. Measurements can be displayed on the computer monitor using a familiar looking DMM panel. The DMM can also be used in an automated fashion with a user-generated control program, utilizing one of many compatible software packages and operating systems.

The addition of these state-of-the-art USB DMMs to the existing lineup expands the offering of DMMs from Signametrics to 16 PXI, PCI, VXI and USB models, enabling users to select the products that best fits their application, at the best possible price performance, and using the same software commands.
