“Worlds Smallest” CW Laser

(Technology News, 18 Jul 2008 )

This surface mountable (SMT) high-power laser for continuous wave (cw) mode is dustproof, powerful and cost-effective, making it ideal for volume applications in industry, the automotive sector and medical systems. Said to be smallest in the world, this tiny 2.5mm high laser has a footprint of only 6.0 x 4.5mm². Designed for an output of up to 6W, it emits light at a wavelength of 810nm. A prism directs the light so that the laser emits all its light upwards. It can therefore be placed anywhere on a circuit board, not just at the edge.
