National Instruments ASEAN at Globaltronics 2008

(Business News, 01 Sep 2008 )

What: GlobalTRONICS 2008
Where: Booth G11 & G12 (Suntec Singapore, Hall 401-404)
When: 9 – 12 September 2008

National Instruments ASEAN announced plans for the GLOBALTRONICS 2008, taking place from 9 to 12 September at Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre. Participating as an exhibitor for the third time consecutively, National Instruments will demonstrate leading-edge virtual instrumentation products and solutions, showcase successful customer applications and deliver a key presentation at the technology forum.

Hosted by Reed Exhibitions, GlobalTRONICS 2008 is the event in Asia that provides a full spectrum of products and services for the entire electronics manufacturing supply chain; bringing visitors a dedicated showcase of six electronics manufacturing segments from more than 550 international suppliers from 30 countries worldwide. It will be the meeting ground for industry professionals to network, exchange views, as well as explore collaborations and business opportunities.

“National Instruments is honoured to be part of GlobalTRONICS 2008 once again. The tradeshow has become the biennial pageant for us to showcase our industry-leading test and measurement software and hardware products, as well as provide engineers with a deeper insight into application trends,” said Chandran Nair, Managing Director for National Instruments ASEAN. “There’s great demand for technical know-how here, given the rapid changes in product innovations that offer increased functionality and efficiency.”

Following National Instruments’ recent launch of its LabVIEW 8.6 Software – the latest version of the graphical system design software platform for control, test and embedded system development – visitors at GlobalTRONICS 2008 will be able to experience the high-performance and efficient capabilities of the programming tool, to rapidly define their solutions to acquire data remotely.

Demonstrations at NI Booth G11 & G12
· Power Supply and Bus Speed Demonstration Unit - This demonstration shows the capability of utilizing PXI based modular instruments as an automated test system, comparing the speed of automated test system through GPIB, USB, LAN vs. PXI bus.

· CompactRIO Motion Control with Touch Panel - This demonstration features the versatility of building a rapid prototype of motion controller using a brushed DC driver module on NI’s ruggedize CompactRIO platforms; thereby increasing the ease of connecting 3rd party devices and reducing the development time of the project.

· AM/FM Radio Receiver Tester with Audio Analyzer - A combination of RF instruments and Dynamic Signal Acquisition to form an AM/FM radio tester that can replace the traditional instruments at lower cost and faster measurements.

· USB Instruments: Simple and Portable Solution - Expanding the performance and capabilities offered by portable instrumentation with new USB instruments, this small, plug-and-play form factor of the bus-powered instruments make them ideal for portable, bench top, and OEM applications.

· NI ELVIS II Motion Control - With Hi-Speed USB plug-and-play capability and free curriculum, NI ELVIS II provides a single tool-chain to design, simulate, prototype, and teach engineering concepts in instrumentation, circuits, and microcontroller design.

· ARM Light Detector - Jointly developed by NI and ARM, this new module seamlessly integrates NI LabVIEW embedded technology and the Keil RealView Microcontroller Development Environment to provide a seamless, out-of-the-box embedded programming experience.

Technology Forum Presentation
Virtual Instrumentation: The Future of Test & Measurement
The concept of Virtual Instrumentation is the combination of software and hardware platform that can help Test Engineers build their test and measurement systems faster at lower cost and smaller form factor. Virtual instrumentation is expanding. The areas of test, control and design are of primary focus. The advantages of virtual instrumentation are playing leveraged to speed developments in these areas.

The software component of Virtual Instrumentation, such as NI LabVIEW Graphical Development System empowers users to build a wide variety of systems, while the hardware, such as NI PXI system leverages off-the-shelf components to deliver highly accurate, modular systems. It is not just flexible software and modular hardware alone; the two have to be tightly integrated in order to expand the reach of system design and other applications to more people.
