Mistral Solutions has announced the availability of VDS - the Video Distribution System from Curtiss Wright.
Ideal for ship-wide naval distribution systems, local situational awareness systems, airborne distribution systems and simulation systems, the VDS digital distribution systems provide all the elements required for high-performance video distribution over IP networks. These systems allow video from any source to be captured, compressed and distributed to any display or recording station over local or wide area networks.
VDS allows the transmission of multiple video streams by using JPEG2000 or MPEG compression techniques over standard GbE connections, providing the flexibility to distribute video to match quality and bandwidth requirements. JPEG2000 compression provides low latency advantages, making VDS ideal for time-critical applications.
Using the VDS, video streams can be multicast or unicast via UDP/RTP protocol standards that control the flow of video data to ensure optimized transmission over IP networks.
The VDS software suite provides a web or socket-based interface to allow simple configuration and set-up of a VDS system. A top-level API is also provided to allow a higher degree of customization if required.
