New Surface Mount Gate Drive Transformer Is Highly Resistant To EMI

(Technology News, 06 Oct 2008 )

With a small surface mount package featuring rugged housing materials that are highly resistant to the effects of EMI, the new SM580 Gate Drive Transformer from Datatronic Distribution, Inc., provides efficient pulse control in gate drive circuits used in MOSFETs and IGBTs for Switch Mode Power Supplies and other electronic equipment.

The new Datatronic SM580 Gate Drive Transformer has a typical pulse rating of 21 Vµsec and features a hi-pot rating of up to 1500 Vdc. The DCR is 2.8 Ohms. Turns ratios available, depending on model configuration, are: 1:1, 1:1.5 and 1:1:1. The SM580’s design combines high performance with a compact size, high temperature compatibility and economy for use in a wide range of equipment.

The Model SM580 provides excellent drive characteristics for power supplies in PCs, telecom gear, instrumentation, industrial controls and other electronic devices that require power supplies. Its conductive packaging can be effective in minimizing the effects of radiated EMI emissions.

The SM580 features a low profile design that measures only 4.31 mm (0.170 inch) high with a flat top. The package footprint is 6.60-x-8.38 mm (0.260-x-0.330 inch) for compatibility with high-density circuit designs. Its flat top makes
the SM580 ideal for automated pick and place manufacturing, and comes in tape-and-reel packaging.
