DisplaySearch’s Taiwan TV Supply Chain Conference Examines Supply Chain Issues and Evolution of FPD TV

DisplaySearch has announced the agenda for its TV Supply Chain Conference to be held at the Taipei International Convention Center on November 13, 2008. The conference will include sessions on FPD TV Market and Supply Chain, Winning Features and Technical Trends, and Evolution in Wireless & A/V Multimedia.
The conference will gather leading FPD TV supply chain participants from Europe, Israel, Japan, North America and Taiwan. Topics cover the entire supply chain, including panels, semiconductors and TV communication systems. The conference will enable discussions about TV OEM and supply chain issues, electronic solutions, new TV features, and multimedia platforms. In each session, panel discussions will enable speakers and attendees to interact and share expertise and opinions. The TV Supply Chain Conference is the top event for understanding supply chain issues, as well as market drivers influencing the TV industry.

The 2008 will build on last year’s event, which had over 200 attendees. The agenda features several TV supply chain and multimedia experts.

Session 1: FPD TV Market and Supply Chain Issues

· Li-Yi Chen, PhD, Head Director of TV Business Division, CMO
Dr. Chen will present the latest technology and market dynamics in the LCD TV panels, including the diagnosis on the LCD TV panel supply and demand issues, the latest technology roadmap in LCD TV panels such as 240 Hz, LED backlight, dynamic contrast ratio and so on. Green and energy saving technologies for LCD TV panels are also included in his talk.
· Hisakazu Torii, Vice President, Japan, DisplaySearch
Mr. Torii will analyze the global FPD TV market including shipment, revenue and growth and explore the opportunity for further growth, and identify challenges and recommend solutions for surviving downturns. He will also focus on new trends for TV, highlighting DisplaySearch’s perspective on slim type, green initiatives, cost reduction, duty issues and competitive tactics among the TV brands.
· David Hsieh, Vice President, Greater China, DisplaySearch
Mr. Hsieh will discuss different cost structures in TVs, focusing on LCD and PDP from the Bill Of Materials (BOM) perspective. In addition, he will analyze North America TV sell-through and forecast—this season’s greatest concern. Mr. Hsieh will demystify the fierce US market war and deliver the insights for overcome the challenges.
· Deborah Yang, Research Director, DisplaySearch
Ms. Yang will focus on the TV supply chain related issues in her talk, including the changing global manufacturing, logistic, panel allocation, OEM business plans and system integrators’ alliances with the panel makers.

Session 2: TV Winning Features and Technical Trend

· Jim Wallace, Director of Emerging & Home Segment Marketing, ARM
Mr. Wallace will address how a CPU IP core like Cortex takes TVs connected with multimedia applications beyond just broadcasting.
· Y. U. Lee, General Manager of Consumer & Display Segment, STMicroelectronics
Mr. Lee, who is responsible for the Digital TV business in the Greater China region for STMicro, will talk about the evolution and progress of the China Digital TV. He will especially analyze the digital TV structure and how supply chain participants are working together on evolving the digital TV.
· Wen Li, Senior Vice President, Strategic Marketing, Trident
Mr. Li will discuss TV feature trends and which developments will help TV electronics manufacturers take the lead in the marketplace. He will also discuss differences in the business models between panel makers, IC companies, TV system integrators and brands.
· Andy Gane, Senior Director of Digital Television Segment, Zoran
Mr. Gane will propose the next generation TV and present how multimedia affects it. He will talk about the TV roadmap beyond conventional broadcasting with more concentration on multimedia applications.

Session 3: TV Evolution: Wireless & A/V Multimedia

· David Shefler, Senior Director of Business Development & Sales, AMIMON
Mr. Shefler will give an introduction on a wireless high-definition transmission interface and how wireless video streaming without compression works to retain the best picture quality.
· Brian Wong, CEO, Intersil D2Audio
Mr. Wong will introduce the digital audio technology and present how it improves a TV’s audio performance when demands for both picture and audio quality increase. He will also address the design challenges that come with more stylish industrial design trends.
· Michael Chen, Director of Intel Embedded Sales Group, Intel
Mr. Chen will deliver Intel’s vision of consumer electronics and embedded systems. Intel’s first SoC for TV-related applications has been recently announced, which is viewed as a revolutionary step for TV electronics.
· Calvin Hsieh, Research Director, DisplaySearch
Mr. Hsieh will analyze the competition of TV IC suppliers and their critical new features. He will summarize technical trends and evolution, as presented at IFA in September. More and more suppliers including IC, software, brand and content providers are involved in changing the TV landscape.
