Upon founding Xilinx in 1984, co-founders Bernie Vonderschmitt, Ross Freeman and Jim Barnett were determined to build a company that would not only introduce a revolutionary new semiconductor technologythe field programmable gate array (FPGA)to the market place but would run its business based upon a core set of values that would balance the needs of customers, employees and shareholders. Over the past 25 years, community involvement inside and outside the company has been an integral component of the Xilinx culture, with a goal to create a great place to work for employees and to improve quality of life in local communities.
