MCU Enables Secure, Accurate Energy Monitoring in e-metering Apps

(Top News, 08 Jul 2009 )

Texas Instruments Inc.'s (TI) ultra-low power MSP430F471xx microcontroller (MCU) series of system-on-chip (SoC) metering solutions achieves leading accuracy results, and offers simultaneous sampling of voltage and current as well as tamper-detection for efficient and reliable energy measurement.

The MSP430F471xx MCUs integrate a dedicated 16-bit sigma delta converters for three-phase e-metering applications. The devices tout precise energy measurements with better than 0.1 percent accuracy, and are well suited to powerline monitoring with simultaneous sampling of all channels. The MCUs have flexible memory options with up to 120kB Flash and 8kB RAM.
