ChipStart Expands Global Operations

ChipStart, a value-added reseller of analog and digital semiconductor Intellectual Property (IP) and best-in-class design tools used to accelerate the realization of system-on-a-chip (SoC) products, has expanded global operations and has named several EDA veterans to the team.

ChipStart has opened additional offices in North America and the United Kingdom to serve its growing customer base. In addition, the company has announced that EDA and IP veterans Russell Hayes, Bill Lev, Glen Martini, and Al McConnell have joined the team. As part of their joining ChipStart, the company has opened offices in the United Kingdom, Austin, Texas, and Dallas, Texas in addition to its current locations in Silicon Valley, Cambridge, Massachusetts and Toronto, Canada.

“We are extremely excited to expand our global footprint and to increase our presence with these outstanding team members,” said Howard Pakosh, President and Chief Executive Officer, ChipStart. “By adding Russ, Bill, Glen and Al to the team, we are able to concentrate our efforts on expanding our revenue targets and truly delivering the capabilities needed to our worldwide customer base with unmatched professional experience.”

ChipStart has named Hayes, a seasoned sales and marketing veteran with over 25 years experience with 10 years in leading edge design, as Vice President in charge of business development. Hayes has held senior positions in North America with SafeNet Inc., TriCN Inc., Synopsys and Digital Equipment Corp., working in research and development, sales and marketing.

Lev comes to ChipStart with a wealth of experience taking emerging technologies to market, with over 15 years experience in the semiconductor supply chain including Semiconductor (Silicon) IP licensing, EDA, and Design Services. Most recently, Bill was one of the three founders of Liga Systems Inc. and served as the Director of Business Development from 2006 to 2008. Prior to Liga Systems, Bill held positions in the semiconductor supply chain at MOSAID Technologies, MoSys, Aptix and Cadence Design Systems.

Martini joins ChipStart bringing over 25 years of semiconductor design, technical marketing, business, and EDA sales experience. Most recently, Glenn was a founder and investment partner in Quantum Performance, served as VP of Operations, and a Board Member of KRG Systems. Prior to Quantum, Glenn held engineering and management positions at Maxim, STMicroelectronics, and NEC Electronics. In the EDA industry he held design services, technical account management, and sales positions at Cadence, Mentor Graphics, and Synplicity.

Al McConnell has over 20 years experience in ASICs, Intellectual Property, Software and Development Tools. Most recently, Al held positions at Texas Instruments, Qualcomm and Freescale and many other customers with Green Hills Software and ARM as Sr. Strategic Account Manager at both companies. He led the efforts to enable his customers to take advantage of leading edge technology while ensuring that they were able to meet their program objectives and goals. Prior to this, Al held sales and sales management positions at Texas Instruments, IBM, VLSI Technology (later acquired by Philips Semiconductors (Now NXP Semiconductors) and Intel.
