NEC Intros Compact LTE Wireless Base Station

(Product News, 03 Sep 2009 )

NEC Corp. will be showcasing its latest compact outdoor LTE wireless base station at the Broadband World Forum Europe 2009 (BBWFE 2009), which will be held in Paris, France, from 7-9 September. NEC's new base station features REC (Radio Equipment Controller) control functions with SON (Self Organizing Network) technologies that enable efficient construction and operation of base stations. The base station, measuring 449x490x145mm and weighing just 17kg, may be easily transported by a single person and flexibly installed.

The removal of cooling fans enables the new base station to consume 75 percent less power than conventional stations and contributes to reducing CO2 emissions. The LTE wireless base stations are built in compliance with 3GPP mobile communications standards.
