Huawei has deployed the world’s first TD-LTE/SAE trial network for China Mobile. This new network that has an actual download speed of up to 29Mbps will be used for 2010 Shanghai World Expo.
Wang Jianzhou, Chairman and CEO, China Mobile, said: “This state-of-the-art network covers the whole site of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, which will fully demonstrate the capability of TD-LTE technology.”
As the only vendor able to provide end-to-end TD-LTE/SAE solutions, Huawei deployed the TD-LTE radio access network and SAE core network for China Mobile, and also delivered chipsets and terminals. This infrastructure and these cutting-edge terminal devices enabling high definition (HD) video transmission, HD video monitoring, HD video-on-demand (VOD) and mobile Internet will support live broadcasting and security for the upcoming events.
“TD-LTE/SAE technologies have the advantage of low latency and high spectrum efficiency and are increasingly gaining recognition from operators and other telecom organizations,” said Li Changzhu, Vice President of China Marketing, Huawei. “A range of significant technical innovations will be showcased during the Expo, and this TD-LTE/SAE trial network is one of the most exciting to be deployed at the event. This network adopts Huawei’s integrated LTE solution of FDD and TDD technologies, as well as the SAE core network which is being used in world-leading operators’ network modernization.”
