Actel FPGAs Voted Leading Product in EDN China Innovation Awards for Fifth Year in a Row

Actel Corp.'s IGLOO nano FPGAs have been voted the "Leading Product" in the highly competitive Programmable Logic category of the prestigious EDN China Innovation Award 2009.

“We are honored that EDNC’s readership, which consists mostly of design engineers, has given industry recognition to an Actel product for the fifth consecutive year,” said Rick Lain, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, for Actel. “When we launched IGLOO nano last year, we knew that we were breaking new ground by taking FPGAs to a whole new space. It’s rewarding to see that the design engineering community in China has been quick to show its appreciation and to recognize the significance of ‘nano power, nano cost and nano size’ in today’s consumer-driven economy.”

The awards recognize innovation that has led to advancements in either technology or products. A panel of industry experts and EDNC’s technical editors selected the finalists for this year’s competition. Readers then selected the award recipients from the pool of finalists through an online ballot hosted on EDNC’s website.

Actel was presented with its Leading Product award at the annual EDN China Innovation Award ceremony, which was held in Shenzhen, China, on the 18th of November.

Actel’s award-winning IGLOO nano devices are reprogrammable, full-featured flash, low-power FPGAs designed to meet the demanding power and area requirements of today’s portable and power-conscious electronics such as smart phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), portable media players (PMPs), portable navigation devices (PNDs), and eBooks.

IGLOO nano low-power FPGAs offer previously unheard of possibilities in power, size, lead-times, operating temperature and cost. IGLOO nano FGPAs are available in logic densities from 10,000 to 250,000 gates; the 1.2 V to 1.5 V devices have been designed for high-volume applications in which power and size are key decision criteria. Priced competitively in the market, IGLOO nano devices are seamless ASIC or ASSP replacements, yet retain the advantages of flexibility and quick time-to-market in the low-power and small footprint profiles offered by Actel FPGAs.
