element14 is Everywhere with iPhone and Android Applications

(Business News, 16 Dec 2009 )

element14, a new online technology resource and community for electronic design engineers, has launched its very own iPhone and Google Android applications as well as a mobile version of the website. These new element14 Everywhere applications will provide element14 members with a wealth of unbiased technical information and collaboration that until now was only available from their personal computer. These new additions to the element14 platform will continue to enhance the ability of design engineers to work while they are away from their computers.

element14 uses web 2.0 functionality to facilitate interaction, collaboration and information sharing among users. This new mobile functionality ensures that electronic design engineers have access to the element14 platform with any smartphone.

The element14 iPhone and Android applications include RSS feeds of the most recent and popular discussions on element14 with the added ability to search its discussion boards and a link to the mobile version of the website.

The free element14 Everywhere iPhone application is available on the iTunes Store, and the Android application is available through the phone at the following link, direct from an Android phone. The element14 mobile site is available on any smartphone at www.element-14.com/m.

element14 provides a vast array of product data, design tools and technology information, ensuring electronic design engineers worldwide have access to necessary information when they need it. A true value added benefit of element14 is the ability to collaborate with select engineers about design techniques or seek new technology developments from experts in the field.

“element14 continues to provide a very much needed one-stop resource for electronic design engineers,” said Kevin Yapp, Chief Innovation Officer of Premier Farnell, the organisation behind element14. “Our new element14 Everywhere iPhone and Android applications provide the resource in a mobile format. Members now get the access to the collaboration capabilities that differentiate element14 from a traditional website. element14 was specifically built for electronic design engineers, design students, suppliers and industry experts looking for the opportunity to share technical information and have access to all the latest electronic design engineering resources.”
