Exar Corp. has released the industry's fastest (52Mbps) single-chip multiprotocol serial transceiver – the SP510. The transceiver supports high-speed data traffic, leading industry interface standards, adjustable logic level flexibility, and has outstanding ESD protection, making the device suitable for routers, frame relay, WAN access, and VoIP-PBX gateways.
The SP510 is a highly integrated physical layer solution that can be configured to support multiple serial protocol standards. It incorporates eight drivers and eight receivers that can be adapted for either differential (V.11 or V.35) or single ended (V.28 and V.10) signaling. The device architecture is designed to support the data and clock signals used in HDLC or SDLC serial ports as either a DTE or DCE. The SP510 enables a Serial Communications Controller (SCC) to implement a variety of serial interface standards including V.10, V.11, V.28 (RS-232), V.35, V.36 (RS-449), EIA-530, EIA-530-A, or X.21. It requires only a single 5V supply for full operation. All bus-pins are protected against severe ESD events up to ±15kV (Human Body Model).
